Positioned perfectly between Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough, Peak View Retreat isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a gateway to some of Aotearoa’s most inspiring landscapes, experiences and tastes. From wild mountain ridges to golden sand beaches, creative city culture, boutique wineries and heart‑pumping activities, there’s something here for every kind of explorer.
National Parks
From rugged rocky ridges and vast mountain ranges to native forest and golden sand beaches, Nelson's three national parks are as spectacular as they are diverse. Walkers will love two of New Zealand's Great Walks – the Heaphy Track in Kahurangi National Park and the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Lake Rotoiti in the Nelson Lakes also has a variety of scenic walks that range from a couple of hours to several days. Queen Charlotte Sounds in Marlborough (although not a National Park) is well worth a visit. If you only have a day, take a water taxi from Picton and explore a section of this beautiful track, our favourite is Ship Cove to Furneaux Lodge.
Food & Wine
Nelson's mild climate and fertile soil means it’s a fabulous place to grow beautiful produce and wine. Home to boutique family-run wineries our wine region has a special charm that you won’t find anywhere else. The Saturday markets are a wonderful place to meet local artisans selling everything from organic fruit and vegetables to cheese and dairy products, herbal teas, chutneys, sourdough and more. The Marlborough region is a well-established wine region that exports wine to the world, with some great restaurants and cellar doors you can visit year-round.
Activities
There is an activity for everyone right on the doorstep of Peak View Retreat. Enjoy the walking trails at Pelorous bridge. Embark on a Wildlife Tour in the Abel Tasman, or enjoy a private gourmet food, wine, art or wilderness experience in the Nelson or Marlborough regions. Get your adrenaline pumping at the Cable Bay Adventure Park with their Sky Wire experience, or the incredible Mountain Bike trails and more. Enjoy a fun and safe shooting experience at Peak View Range.
