Of course we are biased... But hear us out. We are well aware of the spectacular offerings the South Island has for celebrating your once in a lifetime honeymoon. We are spoiled for choice and given that I'm also a Travel Designer specialising in luxury travel to New Zealand I have intimate knowledge of the very best places that are perfect for living out your dream honeymoon.
Now, we all have our passions and priorities, but in my experience, the dream is to be in your own loved up bubble right? With no one else around, but you, your significant other and the birds forming the backdrop to that dreamy New Zealand scenery. If you value exclusive and intimate service then a private chef, masseur, wellness instructor or sound bath practitioner can be a welcome addition to your party of two. We work with a number of wonderful experts who offer a range of additional services which can enhance and complement your stay if you wish.
Peak View is unique because not only are we located in one of the most beautiful regions, if not the most beautiful.... but our proximity to Nelson and Marlborough makes our this a wonderful place to base your self to explore both regions, while also enjoying some relaxing downtime. The Retreat is built on the top of a Mountain in the Whangamoa Ranges with 360 degree views which take in the Richmond Ranges, Pepin Island, the Abel Tasman National Park, Farewell Spit and even Mount Tarananaki on a good day. I can not think of anywhere else with such a unique and special location.

Besides the location, our amenities and facilities are what makes this your dream luxury honeymoon experience. Our wood fired hot tub is a favourite! Located outside the primary suite on the deck we have positioned it perfectly to take advantage of the sunset and star gazing for the ultimate romantic forest bathing evening. We also love that it's off grid and sustainable, using only fresh rain water that is emptied, cleaned and re filled after every guest stay. You will not find any nasty chemicals.
The Sauna is a newer addition, made entirely from locally grown timber, and beautiful Italian ceramic tiles with a Sauna Fire made by the wonderful Roaring Meg team down in Central Otago. The large window capturing those sunset and native bush views top it off making it one of the most spectacular sauna experiences you will have in New Zealand. There is a cold shower located steps from the sauna, but if you'd prefer a cold plunge, the hot tub also doubles as an excellent cold plunge pool (just let us know not to heat it up for your arrival).

There is a tv nook if you are one of the lucky few who may experience a rare storm in Sunny Nelson, makes for a perfect way to spend a rainy day, snuggled up watching a romantic movie. The sunrise corner is my personal favourite with the cosy swivel chair inside positioned to maximise those winter sunrises and outside on the deck the cape cod chairs. It's also a great spot to lay out the yoga mats for a self guided sunrise yoga session (or splurge for a private one on one class).
We provide an array of generous provisions with pantry items, breakfast, a welcome hamper with local artisan gourmet treats, fresh coffee beans and a selection of beautiful mostly organic loose leaf teas and a fully stocked mini bar so you can enjoy a drink on us. Alcohol Free environments are also welcome, just let us know and this can be prepared for you.
Lastly, as pictures speak louder than words, we have included a few gorgeous photos from one of our previous loved up couples who had their intimate elopement here at Peak View. We are forever grateful that they flew half way around the world and chose this special spot to celebrate their epic nuptials.
Trust us, this will be a highlight of your dream New Zealand honeymoon! It also a great place to factor in at least one day to go nowhere and just be. Soak up the expansive 360 degree views, enjoy the hot tub and sauna, watch the sunrise and sunset before star gazing in the evening. If you're lucky (winter time only) you may even have the pleasure of enjoying a show by the Southern Lights... We look forward to welcome you to the Retreat one day, and if you have any questions please feel free to flick us a message.
